The Sexiest Smelling Vanilla Fragrance?
Tom Ford knows how to package sexy.
While we have not had the chance to personally try Vanilla Sex Eau de Parfum yet, we certainly WANT to. Long-time fans of warm, sensual scent profiles, this was automatically appealing, and Marie Claire has even referred to Ford’s latest beauty launch as “peak indulgence.”
Provocative campaigns and racy names are nothing new for the fashion house, and as usual, this drop features quite the luxurious price tag:
1oz/30mL for $250
1.7oz/50mL for $395
What we love is that Vanilla Sex is marketed as a unisex fragrance, something that universally will resonate with all of us. But so far, the reviews are split.
Some people are anticipating this will be the new vanilla perfume to covet in 2024, while others think it doesn’t provide what they hoped, referring to Vanilla Sex as… tragically boring.
Fragrance Family: Warm & Spicy/Amber
Scent Type: Warm & Sweet Gourmands
Key Notes:
Vanilla Tincture
Vanilla Absolute
Sandalwood
To be honest, from a GTM and marketing perspective, there’s not much to feel passionate about despite being heavy on the innuendos. It’s what we’d expect to see from a luxury perfume campaign. Maybe its name is meant to be taken literally.
Clearly the Tom Ford team has mastered the art of prominent press coverage for their new launch rollouts. We see full on articles making the rounds from all the key media outlets as anticipated.
And Fragrance TikTok has been quick to cover Vanilla Sex, with influencers and scent savvy creators making the launch inescapable if you’re part of the BeautyTok community. The Vanilla perfume category has a notorious cult-following and has not missed with this launch.
Overall, we would love to see the addition of more eye-catching visuals and imagery to add to the aura and fantasy that fragrances often serve up. This launch is lacking some serious storytelling that is often essential to captivate consumers.
But is this particular perfume worthy of the marketing budget to support?
Does Tom Ford Beauty only need to show up with their standard template for success in order to thrive?
We’re extremely curious to see how this one continues to play out.
Let us know if you’ve gotten your hands on Vanilla Sex yet or if you’re also hoping to try.
