Baby, You're a Star(Face)

If you think the pink craze is dying down anytime soon, it’s quite the opposite. Starface fans have been begging the brand to drop an all pink range of their 100% hydrocolloid pimple patches for a while now.

And to their delight, the full pink set has finally arrived.

The catch?

Pink stars are only available for a limited time with the brand playfully telling customers to “have fun feeling cute while supplies last.”

Let’s dive in.

Starface World, founded by Julie Schott (also of Julie morning after pills, Blip nicotine gum, Plus zero waste personal care, and Futurewise skincare), has exceeded in being more than just another brand.

Its star-shaped acne patches have become fashion statements.

Accessories.

They’ve turned having a breakout into a fashion statement. The fact that this didn’t exist during my peak breakout years is infuriating.

Beyond being cute, Starface has helped to do away with the stigma historically associated with acne. And for that, we commend them.

The concept of hydrocolloid patches for spot treatment isn’t new, but the way Starface has packaged them up and presented them to the world has been a cultural moment for Gen Z.

If you’re unfamiliar, these little stickers absorb, shrink, and protect pimples. They also encourage the wearer to refrain from picking or touching their faces. It’s brilliant. And with Starface stars, it’s a lot of fun.

The limited-edition pink stars have been slowly teased to consumers beginning with a carousel of girl movies on a pink backdrop and a CTA to follow the brand on letterboxd. It was a hint so subtle many didn’t even realize what was happening on the grid. But the next post started to spark intrigue.

The brand continued to have their fun with teasers from there, finally making it clear what was next with a video featuring Bubble Tape and fortune cookies containing real printed out comments with requests for pink stars inside.

Marketing icons.

Our favorite part of this launch?

In a majorly over the top move (in the best way), a pink Hummer stretch limo (“driven” by Big Yellow”) greets fans at their doorsteps with pink balloons, a human-size replica of the pink stars box, and their own set of pink stars.

Available on the brand site, the pink stars come in two options:

  • Mini Pack of (16) stars retailing at $7.99

  • Bundle of (3) Mini Packs retailing at $23.97

Each set features (4) shades:

  • Jelly Bean

  • Bubblegum

  • Cotton Candy

  • Fruit Snack

We’ve been thoroughly entertained by the brand’s social content in support of this launch and encourage you all to check it out. Entertaining through content is a key pillar of beauty marketing success in 2024 and it’s not often that attempts to do so are actually done well.

But this is why Starface succeeds.

Take notes, besties.

And we’ll be adding a bundle to our carts ASAP before these are sold out.
