Shall we take a Personal Day, besties?
The acne category has long been disappointing for actual acne-havers. And the most "effective" solutions like Accutane and Benzoyl Peroxide come with a variety of health risks, alarming recalls, and harmful side effects. When things get bad, consumers go to the derm hoping for some relief -- only to find themselves being handled the same antibiotic and topical that has historically done nothing for them.
To add salt to the wound, the aesthetics and marketing surrounding acne care are typically horrifying, or at best dull. As if dealing with this wasn't bad enough, brands often seem set on fully killing the vibes.
The beauty industry has made progress. There's just so much more we can do.
Lili Reinhart's acne-centric skincare brand Personal Day is a breath of fresh air.

While celeb-backed brands are a category we admit we tend to roll our eyes at at Beauty Brief HQ, this brand is doing it right. And honestly, having someone in the spotlight like Lili being vulnerable and advocating for her fellow acne sufferers is refreshing. Not only is dealing with acne a frustrating skin condition, but the impact it has on mental health continues to not be acknowledged as much as it should.
What we love about Personal Day's latest drop is that it's providing options.

Hypochlorous Acid has become the It Girl of acne treatment, and Personal Day leverages this for their duel launch featuring a spray and a topical gel, both under the name Trust Me On This.
We'll dive into the gel first.

Trust Me on This Hypochlorous Acid Gel retails at $27.00 USD and is described as a daily defense gel for acne-prone skin types. Featuring the bacteria fighting hero ingredient Hypochlorous Acid, it also helps calm irritation, helps to diminish breakouts, and minimizes redness.
Key Benefits:
Targeted defense for breakout-prone areas
Boosts skin’s natural healing, calming, and redness reduction
Alcohol-free
Acne-safe
Clinically-tested
Non-irritating
Non-comedogenic

The Trust Me on This Hypochlorous Acid Spray also retails at $27.00 USD and provides a different format with the same bacteria-fighting perks we see in the gel option.
Key Benefits:
Anti-bacterial cleansing on the go
Helps skin’s natural healing, calming, and redness reduction
Kills harmful bacteria without harsh chemicals
Alcohol-free
Acne-safe
Clinically-tested
Non-irritating
Non-comedogenic
The marketing campaign surrounded the duo features visual variations on the tagline One Hero, Two Ways. Personal Day's team is on their A game when it comes to the aesthetics of this launch, embracing the ever rising food/beauty marketing trend brands (and us) can't get enough of.
Content embraces the TSA tray flat lay trend, low key photos that are chic without feeling overly produced, and an overall relatability that comes across as genuine rather than cringe. Marketing to acneic skin types shouldn't make people feel worse about what they're dealing with.
Personal Day has managed to normalize dealing with acne in a way that resonates with actual humans in 2025. It's showing a lifestyle their target audience is already living. The brand is in touch.
NYC pilates girlies got a first look at this launch with a collaboration between Personal Day, Practice Room, and instructor Robert Cadiz. While branded goodies were to be had, the event had a deeper purchase that extended beyond the brand: this was a fundraiser class that supported the Pasadena Humane Society with their efforts in the aftermath of the LA Fires.
When we say it's crucial that a brand has soul, this is what we mean. Maybe it isn't the flashiest cash grab that increases sales dollars -- but it's the type of community-building initiative that will produce customer loyalty and extend the brand's longevity overall. Remember besties, this is a marathon -- not a sprint.
All in all, Personal Day is proving itself to be a different kind of derm-developed, celeb co-founded brand. It's leading with heart and is clearing capable of reading the room in a way that makes us at Beauty Brief HQ confident in saying that this one is one to watch.
