Love is Love with Danessa Myricks

Each year, Danessa Myricks Beauty puts a special spotlight on the LGBTQIA+ community through a variety of initiatives including new product launches with proceeds going to related causes, fostering educational dialogues, and creating an overall welcoming and safe space that celebrities love and beauty for all.

“We continue to hope for a more accepting and inclusive world where everyone can create freely and always dream big,” Myricks says.

This year the beauty brand has launched a color-shifting Pride palette, Love is Love, featuring (11) shimmering shades that’s a “celebration of the creativity, beauty, and love of our vibrant LGBTQIA+ community.” A portion of the proceeds from the 2024 launch will be donated to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union).

Myricks explains that she’s built her brand on the belief that every single person and their own unique beauty should be embraced every single day of the year and here at The Beauty Brief, we could not agree more with the sentiment.

“In a world that doesn’t always celebrate the uniqueness of our differences, I wanted to design a palette that inspired feelings of joy and celebration. No matter how you express yourself, everyone deserves to be loved for their whole selves,” she says.

“Danessa Myricks Beauty will always be a safe space for all where everyone is seen, honored, and celebrated,” the founder added.

Retailing at $65 and available on the brand site, Sephora, and Beautylish, the Love is Love palette is designed to be used all over the face and holds a range of multi-chrome colors with (4) finishes that pop with rich pigment and shine on all skin tones, “honoring the inclusive spirit of the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Finishes:

  • Cream Matte

  • Metallic

  • Rainbow Multi-Chrome

  • Elastin Multi-Chrome

Shades:

  • Embrace

  • Limitless

  • Ally

  • Truth

  • Freedom

  • Worthy

  • D, R, E, A, M (Rainbow Multi-Chrome)

Aesthetically, the palette forms two hearts to express “<3 is <3;” however, some reviewers are not particularly thrilled with its layout. We can see why consumers may be frustrated with the practicality and smaller portions of the rainbow shade selection making up “DREAM,” but when it comes to the range itself and quality, purchasers are thrilled.

The Love is Love campaign and social rollout features diverse members of the LGBTQIA+ community sharing their stories of love, queerness, and makeup. We can’t recommend enough how worth it it is to take the time to listen to every single one of them!

One thing that’s for sure: this launch has real heart and we’re excited to watch it continue to unfold for the rest of the month of June.

Happy Pride from Beauty Brief HQ!
