Behind the Gloss with Falon Beauty

The right consistency for any lip product is make or break. If the viscosity is too much or not enough, the whole thing falls apart. Then you have to consider taste (if applicable), ethical product development practices, and price point.

Oh, and is it a brand or founder that you even want to throw your money at?

Falon Beauty slid into our DMs and said “hold my gloss.”

Founded in 2017, the brand is currently showcasing its collection of delightfully fruity lip oils that are deeply hydrating, non-sticky, and feel incredible once applied.

Available in (3) flavors: pomegranate, mango, and cherry, these oils retail at a consumer-friendly $10.99 and are available on the brand site

Shantelle Coote, the driving force behind the beauty brand, first went to market with her fan fave SmudgeProof matte liquid lipsticks – and shares some exciting news: these will be making a return to Falon Beauty’s digital shelves soon, so stay tuned.

“Every product starts with an idea, market trends, and my personal favorites. Our fruit-scented lip oils were inspired by my Caribbean roots and to offer nourishing and hydrating [benefits],” Coote says of her current lineup.

The Miami-based founder loves the lively and diverse local beauty scene that offers a mix of trendy salons, high luxe beauty services, and residents that are continuously staying on top of the latest trends.

But Coote’s beauty roots didn’t start there.

“My journey began in Jamaica, where I was born and raised. With my mother owning a salon, I was immersed in the beauty world from a young age. I always dreamed of owning my own beauty brand. I took the leap in 2017 and launched [Falon Beauty],” Coote shares.

We can anticipate a line expansion from the brand in the near future as the Falon Beauty team divides its focus on new product development, increasing online presence, and establishing strategic retail partnerships.

“An unexpected challenge I've faced is keeping up with the ever-changing industry trends while staying true to my brand’s identity. [And] managing the budget for marketing to effectively reach new audiences,” the founder explains of current pain points for her indie brand.

But despite the quick pace and sometimes claustrophobic beauty landscape, Coote remains positive and determined in her vision for Falon Beauty.

“An unexpected joy of this process has been waking up every day knowing I’m doing something I love and passionate about, [as well as] seeing that my customers truly appreciate and love my product,” she says.

The end goal for Falon is to become a recognizable brand in the beauty space that’s known for high-quality, cruelty-free product offerings that are also affordable. Coote positions her brand as not only a way to enhance natural beauty, but as a platform with products that genuinely empower people, encouraging inclusivity and self-expression.

“My favorite thing about working in the beauty industry is helping others feel confident in their own skin. I love being able to create products that not only enhance beauty but also bring joy, and making sure they are affordable,” the founder adds.

For aspiring beauty entrepreneurs, Coote shares the following advice:

“Never give up. Being an entrepreneur is not an easy journey, but it will be worth it in the end. Start by thoroughly researching your market and understanding your target audience.”

We can’t wait to see the continued growth for Falon Beauty here at Beauty Brief HQ.
