One Less Lip Product to Layer

If there’s one category beauty definitely isn’t lacking in right now, it’s peptide lip treatments. We have them glossy, balmy, tinted, untinted, and in 100 tubes we’ve collected in every purse we own. But after trying just about all of them, longtime beauty expert and Meri Stori founder Arshia Moorjani kept running into the same problem: she’d apply her nourishing lip treatment…and then reach for lipstick.

That’s why she released her very own version — designed to hydrate, smooth, and soften while delivering buildable pigment in a single swipe. Or in Arshia’s words, lip care with enough color that you don’t immediately need to layer something else on top.

But to fully understand Meri Stori, we have to go back much further than this launch.

Beauty has been Arshia’s world for more than 15 years. She started behind the counter as a makeup artist, moved into beauty editorial, became a content creator, and eventually added founder to the résumé.

Meri Stori brings all of those chapters together with another that started way earlier, growing up in an Indian household where beauty was rooted in ritual.

This ritualistic philosophy is tossed around as a marketing term these days, but feels authentic for the Meri Stori brand, which is built around bringing ingredients long trusted in Indian beauty into modern, high-performance formulas across makeup, skin, hair, and beyond.

Even the name is personal: “Meri” means “mine” in Hindi, while “Stori” represents the individual backgrounds and histories we each carry.

For Arshia, founding a beauty brand meant honoring those traditions by adapting them to the way we get ready now.

That thinking is especially clear in the Silk Peptide Lip Treatments launch. While developing the formula, Arshia had one major non-negotiable: skincare and color had to coexist without either feeling like an afterthought.

“It had to feel incredibly comfortable, hydrate my lips, never feel sticky, and still deliver enough pigment that I could throw it on without needing another product,” she says. “I wasn’t willing to launch until it checked every box.”

And the shades were also super well thought out. Having spent years creating beauty content for medium and deeper skin tones, Arshia knows firsthand that “universally flattering” can become one of those beauty phrases that sound nice until you actually apply the product.

“For me, ‘universally flattering’ isn’t just a marketing phrase,” she says. “We tested every shade extensively to make sure they complemented a wide range of skin tones, with undertones that felt intentional rather than too cool, too warm, or washed out.”

Her personal favorite is Rosewood Glow. “It has enough color to brighten my face but still feels effortless,” she says. “It’s the one I throw in my bag and constantly reach for.”

When I asked her about the countless lip products currently being launched and overwhelming people’s feeds, she said, “Consumers are becoming much more intentional. They don’t want products that just look good on social media. They want products that genuinely perform, fit into their daily lives, and feel worth the investment.”

All in all, Meri Stori is trying to differentiate itself through its unique positioning: a marriage of indian heritage with intentional innovation for ALL skin tones.

And in a sea of peptide lip products, let’s be real — we don’t need another one just for the sake of it. We need one with a reason for existing, and a little more color never hurts.
