Inside the House of Solsoller: Beyond Beauty

Inspired by Mallorca and built around evolving skin, thoughtful rituals, and intentionally curated capsules, Solsoller is redefining what it means to build a modern beauty house.

Beauty brands are often defined by what they launch next.

A new serum. A new shade extension. A new collection timed perfectly to the season. The industry thrives on momentum, fueled by constant novelty and an endless cycle of what's new.

Solsoller is taking a different approach.

Founded by attorney and skincare enthusiast Nanette Rickenbach, the Puerto Rico-based brand describes itself not as a beauty brand, but as a beauty house. The distinction may seem subtle, but it sits at the heart of everything Solsoller creates. Rather than chasing trends or building products around marketing calendars, the brand focuses on thoughtfully curated capsules, evolving skin, and rituals designed to become part of everyday life.

"I think of Solsoller as a house rather than a beauty brand because every product is created with care and has a story behind it, not from marketing, but from real needs," says Rickenbach. "Warmth, thoughtfulness, and elegance. This is what makes a house warm, not hundreds of products."

That philosophy has become the foundation of Solsoller, which has been built on the belief that beauty should feel personal, intentional, and deeply connected to the people who use it.

The Road to Solsoller

Rickenbach's path to beauty wasn't traditional.

For years, she built a successful career in corporate law, representing businesses across multiple industries and gaining a unique perspective on how companies operate behind the scenes. The experience sharpened her understanding of business, but it also revealed something she felt was missing.

At the same time, she found herself navigating a personal and spiritual awakening, one that encouraged her to reassess the environments she occupied and the values she wanted to bring into her work.

Combined with a lifelong fascination with skincare, the experience ultimately led to Solsoller.

"My background in corporate law gave me a rare vantage point into how very different industries operate," she explains. "At the same time, I was going through a personal and spiritual awakening."

Today, she continues balancing both worlds, practicing law while building the brand she envisioned, often moving between two seemingly different careers united by a shared commitment to discipline, purpose, and service.

A House Inspired by Mallorca

The emotional heart of Solsoller can be traced to Sóller, Mallorca, the picturesque Spanish town that would ultimately inspire both the brand's name and its identity.

For Rickenbach, Mallorca represented far more than a beautiful destination. It became a place of clarity during a pivotal moment in her life.

"Sóller welcomed me, giving me light and a path during a professional storm," she says.

It was there that Solsoller's brand book was developed, the house's voice was defined, and the first collection, Palma D'Or, began to take shape.

The influence of Mallorca extends beyond visual inspiration. Instead, it manifests in the feeling Solsoller hopes to create: a balance of warmth, tranquility, elegance, and belonging.

Inspired by spaces where people coexist comfortably and authentically, the brand seeks to bring that same sense of home into the beauty experience.

Designing for Evolving Skin

At the center of Solsoller's philosophy is a concept Rickenbach refers to as "evolving skin."

Rather than framing aging as something to correct or resist, she views skin as something that changes naturally over time and deserves products that support it through every stage.

"Evolving skin is skin that rewards you if you take care of it," she says.

The idea is deeply personal. At 52, Rickenbach speaks openly about the emotional realities many women experience as they age, from shifts in confidence to the feeling of becoming increasingly overlooked by a culture that often prioritizes youth.

"I created Solsoller to honor women over 40 who start to feel the effects of age, the anxiety, the loss of confidence, the sense that the best days of being noticed are behind them."

For Solsoller, skincare isn't about reclaiming youth. It's about creating rituals that help people feel comfortable, confident, and supported in the skin they have today.

That perspective shapes everything from formulation to product development, emphasizing hydration, nourishment, and long-term skin health over quick fixes and unrealistic promises.

Why Solsoller Rejects the Traditional Beauty Playbook

In an industry driven by launch schedules and seasonal trends, Solsoller intentionally operates at a different pace.

Rather than introducing products simply because the calendar demands it, the brand develops mood-driven capsules inspired by specific needs, emotions, and experiences.

"I wanted the brand to feel intentional, not dictated by marketing calendars," says Rickenbach.

The approach allows collections to feel cohesive and purposeful while encouraging customers to build routines around what genuinely serves them rather than what happens to be trending.

It's also a reflection of how Rickenbach views modern consumers.

Increasingly, people are looking for products that earn a permanent place in their routines rather than temporary moments of excitement. They want fewer products, but better ones. Less clutter. More clarity.

Solsoller's capsule philosophy is designed to meet that need.

The Luxury of Simplicity

That thinking led directly to the creation of Solsoller's Hydration Bar system, one of the brand's most distinctive concepts.

After years spent testing skincare from around the world, Rickenbach began questioning many of the industry's assumptions. Why did consumers need separate products for every moment of the day? Why had routines become so complicated?

She noticed that many products marketed for daytime and nighttime use shared remarkably similar functions, while consumers were being encouraged to add more and more steps to their routines.

The result was often confusion disguised as sophistication.

"I would rather a customer return a thousand times than sell once and never see them again," she says.

The Hydration Bar system was created as an alternative: a simplified AM and PM ritual designed to be effective, approachable, and gender-inclusive.

The goal isn't to eliminate ritual, but to remove unnecessary complexity.

For Solsoller, simplicity itself has become a form of luxury.

Looking Ahead

As Solsoller continues to grow, expansion remains intentional.

The brand is currently developing its first body care capsule while adding new shades to its Palma D'Or makeup collection. Future innovations will continue to reflect the same principles that have guided the house since the beginning: thoughtful formulation, purposeful design, and a commitment to evolving skin.

There is also an interest in pursuing meaningful collaborations with like-minded partners, opportunities that align with the brand's emphasis on quality, creativity, and genuine connection.

In many ways, Solsoller's future looks remarkably similar to its foundation.

No endless product pipeline, no trend chasing.

Instead, Solsoller continues to build what Rickenbach envisioned from the start: a beauty house where products are created with purpose, rituals are designed to be lived with, and customers are welcomed not as consumers, but as part of the house itself.
